Sunset Overdrive reviews land, here's the scores

Sunset Overdrive was one of Microsoft's big Xbox One exclusives that it was hoping would help bring people to the platform and differentiate it from its relatively similar competitor (in terms of hardware and catalogue of games) the PS4.

Fortunately then, the critics of the internet world have smiled down on the game, which is set for release tomorrow in NA.

The gameplay is described as fun and fast paced, with ridiculous over the top weaponry and a movement system that combines parkour with skateboarding to keep you moving quickly and feeling like a badass while you do it.

It's also a very pretty game that produces equally compelling explosions and digital gore, with enemies that paint the world with their guts almost every time you pull the trigger.

This is a mutant (OD) slaying game that cranks things up to 11, especially when it comes to humour, which, depending on who you ask, can be fun and funny, or gratingly over the top, with an over-reliance on breaking the fourth wheel with a wink and a nudge.

There's also been some complaint about an abundance of fetch quests and some of the more irritating aspects of open world games from the past, but overall it's reviewed very well.

Here's a few of the scores from around the web:

Game Informer: 9.25
Gamespot: 8
Kotaku: Yes
8
Polygon: 9
GamesRadar: 8
Eurogamer:8
