One of the biggest mobile gaming phenomenons in 2016 was the release of Super Mario Run, Nintendo's first official release on a mobile platform. While Pokémon Go may have licensed Nintendo/Game Freak content and been very successful with it, Mario's first outing on mobile was the more official of the two.
It proved to be incredibly successful, breaking all download limits for its first few days of release, though with a steep $10 price tag to unlock the entire game after just three levels of play, only a few million ended up paying for it.
That may change now though, as months on from its initial release on iOS, Super Mario Run has made its way to Android, opening it up to hundreds of millions more potential players all over the world.
You can download the game now from the Google Play store, with all of the same levels, features and restrictions of the original iOS version. You can play for free on three maps, but once you've progressed beyond them, expect that same $10 fee to unlock the rest of the game where the real meat of the experience can be found.
The question is, do Android gamers still care? Super Mario Run has been out in the wild for a while now and though not available on Android, people will likely have seen enough gameplay that it's not quite the hot young property it was.
Will you be downloading it on your Android device? And if so, will you pay for the full experience?
