The Nintendo Switch launches today worldwide and by all accounts it's a great little console, especially in portable mode. It comes with a lot of new and exciting features and a reasonable early game lineup, but one feature it is missing at the moment is game save swapping. As it stands, once you've saved a game on your Switch, you can't transfer it to another, or even put it on an SD card.
So you won't be able to take your saves with you, unless you take the entire Switch itself.
The Day One update for the game did add a few new features, like friend codes, support for additional SD cards for added expansion, as it stands, you cannot move saves around and that's causing some annoyance among Switch fans.
It should perhaps come as no surprise though, as Nintendo has always championed local play and continues to do so with the Switch. It doesn't want you taking saves to a friend's or sending them somewhere online, it wants you to take the Switch to your pal's and play the game together on a pair of Switch's.
However, if this is something that enough people request, we wouldn't be surprised to see Nintendo implement it. It's shown so far that with the Switch it's looking to fulfil fan requests as much as show them a new way to play with the fancy Joy-Cons and the various new types of motion games it's hoping catch on.
