Capcom has come under fire for selling some Street Fighter X Tekken characters as DLC even though they were available on the game's disc. Tekken series producer Katsuhiro Harada is sure to avoid this problem altogether as he has promised that no Tekken game will ever have DLC characters at all.
Without condemning Capcom's strategy, Katsuhiro explained that he sees "the characters and their move sets as chess pieces - they are essential items necessary in the game and we would never sell any of those individually."
But that doesn't mean that Tekken games wouldn't see any DLC. In fact, Katsuhiro is ok with offering vanity items such costumes and backdrops as a purchasable DLC. The game designer is also OK with giving early access to some characters as a preorder bonus, as long as all players will be able to unlock them eventually.
