Although not quite as pretty as the big CGI trailer reveal we saw just over a month ago, the first in-engine trailer for Creative Assembly's Total War: Warhammer 2 certainly looks pretty. It shows a climactic battle between the Lizardmen and High Elven forces, complete with Teradons, Carnosaurs and rank upon rank of shielded infantry.
Total War: Warhammer 2 will act as an expansion on the original game, as well as its own standalone title. Initially, it will offer four playable races, with their own unique continent to fight over and a lengthy campaign mode as they all attempt to influence the Cosmic Gates that link the Old World with that of the Chaos gods.
Dark Elves, Lizardmen and High Elves have been confirmed so far, with a fourth race yet to be announced. Shortly following the game's launch later this year, Creative Assembly will link it up with the original title in the slated trilogy, making it possible to pit orcs, men and the undead against their scaly new friends.
Total War: Warhammer 2 is set for release towards the end of 2017 and will be playable for the first time at E3.
