The joint development between Runescape makers Jagex and Toy Firm Hasbro, Transformers Universe is set to close, despite having never left the open beta it has been in for the past six months. This was announced by both companies yesterday afternoon, with both suggesting they were looking to the future and that this game would not be part of it.
"We’re hugely disappointed, but the game will be closing over the coming weeks before its full closure at 10am GMT on 31st January 2015," reads the statement (via AGB).
"As a team, we can’t thank players enough for the support that they have shown us over the last few years of development, and even more so during our BETA period."
Anyone that has purchased a Founders pack as part of the beta will be refunded, along with those that bought relic bundles, currency or starter item packs. New players will also no longer be able to make accounts.
Those that continue playing, will be able to do so until the 16th January, at which point the servers will go offline for good.
The developers once again thanked everyone involved in the game's creation and beta at the end of the announcement.
Did any of you play Transformers Universe? I gave it a quick try at a LAN show and wasn't impressed.
