Indie development studio Twisted Pixel is accusing Capcom of the "complete theft" of its successful XBLA title 'Splosion Man.
'Spolsion Man was released on XBLA in July 2009 and was well received to the extent that it became one of the top selling XBLA titles for several months. Twisted Pixel claims that Capcom's iPhone title MaXplosion is a direct rip off of 'Splosion Man.
"MaXplosion gameplay video makes me sad," tweeted Twisted Pixel programmer Mike Henry. "If you're going to outright steal a game, you should at least understand what makes it fun."
"Borrowing is great. Hell, we do it all the time. But that game is a complete theft," another tweet reads.
"Not sure what to say about MaXplosion," Twisted Pixel co-founder Michael Wilford twitted. "Pisses me off. Guess we're just gonna have to make a better iPhone game than them. Shouldn't be hard."
"Best part is, we originally pitched @Splosion_Man to Capcom and they said no."
"I'll always love Capcom bc of what they brought to my childhood, but WTF have they turned into? First they lose Inafune, now this," Wilford concluded.
MaXplosion is available on the App Store for $0.59 and Capcom has refused to comment on Twisted Pixel's accusations.
