Although Ubisoft might be primarily known for its AAA adventure titles, it does also have quite a strong indie slant, supporting some of the smaller studios under its umbrella. One of those is Ubisoft Reflections, which produces unique indie titles like Grow Home and Atomega. The developer's latest release, Ode, is another departure from the norm. The musical title has you visiting audio-inspired gardens, all in the effort to make beautiful new music.
Ode sees you rolling around rocky environments as a little blob-man in a zorb-like ball. You'll encounter different plantlife as you go, activating which sends them pumping away in beats and harmonies, helping you to craft a soundtrack to your own exploration of the alien world.
There are said to be four fantasy worlds to explore in total, throughout which you'll traverse and transform as the music changes who your character is and how they can interact with the world. You'll collect fallen stars as you build the melodies of the far-flung worlds to ultimately create what Ubisoft describes as a "crescendo of sound and light."
Don't expect Ode to be an exceedingly long or complicated game, but it does seem quite beautiful and is entirely open world, so you'll be able to explore for secrets and build your planetary orchestra how you see fit.
Ode is now available through the Uplay store priced at $5.
