After fighting over it for several months in courts, Valve and Blizzard have finally reached an agreement concerning the use of the name "Dota" in their games.
The term Dota was first introduced as an acronym for a popular WarCraft III mod called "defense of the Ancients." Under the new agreement, Blizzard keeps the right to use the term in conjunction with user-created content and mods for WarCraft III and StarCraft II while Valve gets to use it with its own commercial games.
Accordingly, Blizzard has decided to rename its upcoming Blizzard DOTA to Blizzard All-Stars.
