Get ready to see Titanfall feature a lot of DLC, released in batches over the next couple of years, as Vince Zampella, co-founder of Respawn and Infinity Ward, has now confirmed that the game will feature a season pass system.
That doesn't mean all post-release updates will be paid for only. He was keen to let us know that there will be free content updates, alongside the paid for ones. In his interview with Gamespot, Zampella said:
"There’s things that we want in the game that we didn’t get to ship in the final game, so we’ll add private matches and things like that for free. We’re going to do a season pass just because if you buy it up front, you get a deal. We’re not doing micro-transactions. So, you know, a season pass is just, buy it up front and get a better price."
When asked whether the post release support would be the same for all platforms, he confirmed that the PC and Xbox One would have the same DLC, but that with the Xbox 360 edition - currently being put together by Bluepoint Games - it would be dependent on the game's publisher, EA.
What do you guys think of the season pass model? It makes sense I suppose, but I've never felt comfortable dropping another $30 on a game after I've just paid to play the base version. Maybe further down the line? But then I'm likely to just buy the content packs as they come.
