Warhammer 40,000 went from being an underrepresented game property, to be excessively saturated throughout all genres all the time. But that doesn't mean that new games can't be exciting. Returning after a 25-year hiatus, and acting as a direct sequel to its predecessor, Chaos Gate: Daemonhunters makes its triumphant return to form, from developer Frontier and is set to launch on PC in 2022.
The original Chaos Gate was a tactical, turn-based RPG that fitted the forces of the Ultramarines against the Legions of Chaos, and Daemonhunters will do much the same, except you'll be in the studded boots of the Grey Knights instead. Those holy embodiments of the Emperor's will will have an array of weapons, skills, and armaments to bring to bear against the unholy spawn of the enemy, and they were showcased in dramatic fashion in the new trailer.
It's not quite Astartes standard, but it looks pretty good, and it's always nice to see the Great Unclean One himself make an appearance.
Under development at Frontier Studios, the developer behind mobile 40K games like Horus Heresy: Drop Assault, Chaos Gate: Daemonhunters is set to debut on PC in 2022.
