MOBAs are a dime a dozen these days, but apparently that hasn't perturbed one fledgling developer from taking a swing at one of the world's most popular tabletop gaming IPs. Warhammer 40,000, the universe of grim-dark perma-war is getting the MOBA treatment next from Whitebox Interactive, pitting terminators, scouts, stormboys and firewarriors against one another in a battle to the death in Dark Eldra arenas.
Beyond the IP though, it's the usual formula. A single map with multiple lanes, creeps and a handful of characters. While the game isn't quite in early access yet, it's not far off, as its official site is selling pre-order bonuses like skins and character portraits. They aren't cheap either. You can spend up to $250 on some basic skins and extras for your forum avatar.
This is far from the only Warhammer game in development at the moment, as there's an upcoming Bloodbowl 2 to look forward to, Total War: Warhammer in the works, the Armageddon smartphone/tablet application, a new expansion for Space Hulk on the PC and a number of other games that GW is pummelling the world with.
The question is, are you excited for any of them? Total War sounds like it could be fantastic, but this MOBA? I'm not so sure.
