There are a lot of Warhammer games in development at the moment, from the big budget Total War, to the more conservative Regicide. But that doesn't mean we should feel jaded, this is the time that fans of the universe have been waiting for, where Games Workshop finally lets its IPs be used properly.
That's why Warhamer Endtimes: Virmintide is an interesting looking title, since it changes up the formula, giving us a squad based, Borderlands-esque experience within the Old World of Warhammer fantasy - before it was torn asunder and turned into the Age of Sigmar.
In the new trailer, we get our first look at how melee combat will work in the game, and it's rather brutal.
This isn't some game about stealth killing individual enemies either, but a mauling, brawling experience where players are hacking off limbs, gutting their rodent foes and even burning them alive.
Players can equip themselves with knives, swords, hammers, pistols, rifles, glaives and many more options. Graphically the game isn't the prettiest as it stands, but it's not quite done yet, so it may well improve before release.
The combat looks quite fast and fluid though. What do you think?
