It looks more and more like Microsoft's announcement that Games for Windows Live will no longer allow the purchasing of games, is signalling the death knell of the much decried login DRM, as Warner Bros has now announced that it won't be used in the upcoming PC release of Arkham Origins. Instead, the game will make use of Steam as its sole login tech.
This is good news, as there's nothing more irritating than logging into Steam to play a game and then finding that you have to login again, once you get into the game.
However, as Eurogamer points out, this is the first time that the Batman games will not feature Games for Windows Live as part of its login procedure.
Presumably with a few months left until release, this will mean that typical Steam features like trading cards and achievements will also be handled through the Valve owned platform, though they have not been confirmed.
Batman Askham Origins is set for release on PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U in November. It is the first one not to be developed by Rocksteady, which produced both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City.
