Gold Circle Films and DJ2 Entertainment, the companies behind upcoming movie adaptations of Sonic the Hedgehog, Sleeping Dogs and the TV show version of Life is Strange, has announced that it's also making a feature film based on the indie, psychological survival game, We Happy Few.
The film will see the protagonist living within a stylised 1960s Britain, where everyone is happy all of the time and when they're not, they take "joy," a drug that makes them calm and compliant. When it turns out he isn't affected by the drug anymore though, our protagonist must escape the town's confines and find out what's been going on.
Think of it as a blend between Brave New World, Equilibrium and Clockwork Orange.
We don't know who's starring in the movie, or even who will be directing it yet, but the production wheels are starting to turn, so we should see the film show up in a couple of years.
As for the We Happy Few game itself, it recently saw its second big content update, Maidenholm, which brings exciting new features, additional game modes and a new village to visit.
