People often talk about the big ET landfill that saw thousands of cartridges of the 'worst game' ever made dumped into the cold, dead earth, but apparently that's quite a common way to deal with unsold games, as it is with everything we'd just rather forgot we made as a species.
Posted up on Reddit, user HxCut showed an image of thousands upon thousands of DS and 3DS games which hadn't been sold. They're all boxed up ready to be dumped into the ground, but not before all that precious gold was stripped out of them.
The user explained that they work in a recycling plant, and that once the small amount of gold had been taken out of each cartridge - that's where the firm makes their money back - the games were put into huge cardboard containers (called Gaylords, after the name of the company) before being dumped.
Don't worry, there aren't any classics in there. According to the recycling plant employee, at least three quarters of the games were iCarly 2: Join the click, which is apparently a game based on a kids TV show. A few other games include Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 DS, Rabbids in Time 3DS and a few copies of the Amazing Spider-Man.
All in all, there's 1,200lbs of dead iCarly games in that gaylord (there's a sentence I never thought I'd write) and it's destined for the dirt.
