If you're one of the 111 million people playing Minecraft on a monthly basis, then you might want to cast your vote for what the next biome update will be. Mojang's annual Minecraft convention, Minecon is coming up, and if you have your digital ticket handy, you'll be given the option to vote on whether the swamp, mountains, or badlands need a revamp first.
Mojang has continued to update Minecraft periodically over the years, building atop the foundations that the imbecilic Notch laid so long ago. Today the game is far more than its parts and includes all sorts of extras and additions worth checking out if you've not played in a while. One of those most important changes has been the improvements and fleshing out of individual biomes, giving the different parts of your procedurally generated world much more flavor.
Typically when overhauling a biome, Mojang adds new mobs, additional mechanics to be played with, maybe the odd new block. That's what Mojang wants to do to one more biome and it's asking players to decide which one.
Some of the proposed changes for mountains include better snow that has more snow-like properties, as well as a goat mob, jagged cliffs, snowier mountain peaks, and grander vistas. The swamp, if updated, would get a new boat, as well as frogs, and mangrove trees. Badlands, on the other hand, would get tumbleweeds, new cacti, and a vulture mob.
All three biomes will get these updates eventually, but the order it happens in, will be up to you.
Minecon starts this Saturday, September 28, starting at 12PM EST.
