Nintendo has had a nice resurgence since it launched Mario Kart 8 at the end of May. It's managed to sell several million copies, many of them as part of the Wii U Mario Kart bundle, which includes the game, the console and a code for a free Wii U game.
In one retailer in one territory, this has led to the Wii U actually outselling the Xbox One.
This jump in sales has been seen across the board at many retailers, but at Mighty Ape in New Zealand, it's pushed the Nintendo machine ahead of Microsoft's latest console. This is the first time that's happened since the Xbox One launched late last year and represents a big up-tick in Nintendo's fortunes, since it's struggled to sell many Wii U's over the past year.
"Another massive Wii U console shipment just in. These babies are currently out-selling the Xbox One," reads the message put up on the Mighty Ape Facebook page.
Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime also came out recently to announce that the Mario Kart 8 bundles had quadrupled Wii U sales in the US.
If that sort of momentum can be maintained till the end of the year when Nintendo is set to release Super Smash Bros U, Nintendo could quite easily pull ahead of the Xbox One in this generation's console race.
