It shouldn't be a surprise that Wii has finally caught up and surpassed Xbox 360.
Two months short of its second year in market, the undersupplied Wii has sold 10.57 million units worldwide, surpassing Xbox 360 total sales by 60,000. Xbox 360 has been released one year prior to Wii.
Those numbers are courtesy of independent analyst group, Video Game Chartz, which collects sales data directly from retailers all over the world. Microsoft has shipped more than 11.6 million Xbox 360 consoles, but only 10.51 million units have been sold to customers and the rest still reside on store shelves.
Xbox 360 still holds the lead in USA with 6.73 consoles sold, compared to Wii's 4.24 million.
On the other side of the market, Playstation 3's worldwide sales summed up to 4.32 million units and 1.87 million units sold in USA.
All three console makers refused to comment, stating simply that "anything other than official announcements regarding sales figures are rumours and speculations".
