One of the most beloved, fully formed and immersive explorations of virtual reality so far, is Windlands. The swinging, jumping, brightly lit game sees you looking to climb the highest towers to collect pieces of a puzzle that unlocks even more challenges. It can take upwards of an hour to complete, which for a VR demo is something special.
Now the people behind it have joined up with UK developed Psytec Games, the company behind Crystal Rift.
This doesn't mean Windlands isn't still becoming a reality though. Indeed as part of the announcement new Windlands artwork was released, showing much of the landmarks from the original game, but with a mysterious door that we would assume, leads through to a new world and a new level.
Indeed the announcement states that Psytec will use its resources to aid the development of Windlands and will help make it work with the HTC Vive, as well as the Oculus Rift and the companies various hand controllers.
"Windlands is an amazing VR game that we have loved from the beginning and it is a dream come true for us to work on this game," Psytec Games said in a statement (via VRFocus). "We love it! With the new team, Windlands will not only be released, but will enable Ilja and team to make it the awesome game it deserves to be."
