When released in August 2004, Windows XP Service Pack 2 has made a big difference in the public perception of XP, and sales, which had been steady, took off. 3 years later, many analysts believe that Microsoft is planning to scrap off the next Windows XP service pack, in favor of Vista.
Microsoft has finally confirmed Windows XP SP3. According to an email from Microsoft, "We're currently planning to deliver SP3 for Windows XP in the first half of CY2008. This date is preliminary, and we don't have any more details to share at this time."
Unfortunately, no more details were provided.
