The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt cost CD Projekt $81 million to develop and market.
More specifically, the Polish publisher spent 306 million zloty in development and marketing expenses for the game, which proved to have been a sound investment as it sold nearly 6 million copies in one month and levitated the studio's profit to $62.5 million in the last quarter alone.
For comparison, Grand Theft Auto V's development cost was around $265 million, Call of Duty cost was $217 million and Skyrim cost was $95 million. CD Projekt boasted that its relatively low expenses are due to having an in-house staff of around 240 people that "know how to develop games efficiently."
