World of Warships has been in development at Wargaming for some time now, with its eventual release set to complete the trifecta of "World of X" games that covers most of the big theatres of technological warfare during World War II, but it's finally set for release in just a few weeks time. On September 22.
"Based on our open beta success, Wargaming is poised to launch our next big game," says Wargaming head of publishing Fred Menou (via PCG) "With two million participants and the average player spending three hours a day in game we have an armada of sea captains ready to take the helm of the ultimate naval combat game."
World of Warships is - understandably - a little slower paced than its counterparts on land and in the air, featuring much more guess work at enemy positions when your munitions finally make it to where they're pointing. That doesn't mean it's complicated to pick up and play though, as the control scheme is simple enough to allow anyone to figure out what they're doing in a short time.
