The rumors were right. The second World of Warcraft expansion is officially dubbed Wrath of the Lich King and it will introduce the much debated Death Knight hero class.
Wrath of the Lich King -which will open up the continent of Northrend to players of level 68 and above- will focus on the return of the lich king, Arthas Menethil, ruler of the Scourge, and one of the most powerful beings in all of Azeroth. The new WoW expansion is the long anticipated semi-sequel for WarCraft III: The Frozen Throne and its fallen hero Arthas.
Wrath of the Lich King will increase level cap to 80 and skill cap to 450 as well as introduce siege weapons, destructible buildings and a new profession called Inscription that will let players customize individual spells and abilities in their spell book. But, more interestingly, it will introduce the Death Knight, World of WarCraft's first Hero Class. Being a "hero class" means that players will have to reach level 80 then complete a quest that unlocks the ability to create a Death Knight character.
"This expansion will add some of the most infamous characters and settings from the Warcraft universe to World of Warcraft. In addition to new story content, Wrath of the Lich King will introduce a number of features specifically requested by players over the past couple of years. We're looking forward to sharing further details with everyone as development progresses", said Blizzard president and cofounder Mike Morhaime.
