In an interview with GeekWire Summit, Xbox chief Phil Spencer doubted that Microsoft will ever be able to close the sales gap between PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Spencer admitted that Microsoft's mistakes during Xbox One launch windows have lead the console to trail behind PlayStation 4 in sales numbers. The Xbox chief admitted candidly that Microsoft designed the Xbox One according to its desires and needs and not her customers'.
Although Microsoft has taken steps to correct its mistakes, the fact remains that PlayStation 4 is currently leading Xbox One by more than 10 million units and Spencer isn't deluding himself into believing that this gap can be closed. After all, "[Sony] have a huge lead and they have a good product"
At the time of writing, PlayStation 4 total sales to date are estimated to be around 25 million units while Xbox One is estimated to have sold 14 million units.
