News of a new set of features, codenamed Tsunami, for XBox Live have been doing the rounds recently raising interest for the 750,000 strong online gaming subscription service.
It is widely expected that the new features will not roll-out as a full package upgrade to the service but gradually, over the course of the year.
Pinning down the exact details is not an easy task as the whole project is still in the planning phase but many features are expected to be precursors to the XBox 2, possibly implying some of the new console's features.
One such example is the new feature introduced by MS as title-managed online storage, a service allowing gamers to store and share data over Microsoft's network. Such a feature makes a lot more sense when considering the possible absence of a hard drive from XBox 2.
Other interesting features include the new ability for game's publishers or Teams of gamers to create competitions for specific games and playing games over MSN Messenger.
Another addition will be a voice-messaging feature which will allow subscribers to leave short voice messages for other XBox Live users.
These details have apparently leaked through the emergence of a new Xbox Live development kit which addresses these new features. There is still no official word from MS and therefore no dates for the introduction of the Tsunami set of services.
