Xbox One has outsold PlayStation 4 nearly two-to-one during Black Friday.
According to market research firm, InfoScout, data from retailers such as Walmart and Target show that Xbox One alone accounted for 53% of Black Friday console sales while PlayStation 4 accounted for 31% of the market.
Additionally, Xbox 360 accounted for 9% of all consoles sold during the sales day and PlayStation 3 accounted for 1%. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Nintendo's came in as a distant 4th with a sales share of 6%.
PlayStation 4 has outsold Xbox One consistently since their launch nearly a year ago, however this started to change recently in a reversal that can only be attributed to price differences. According to market reports, Xbox One sales caught on to PS4's only after Microsoft released a Kinect-less Xbox One SKU at the same $399 price of Sony's console. There is little doubt in our minds that the Black Friday performance is largely attributed to Microsoft's holiday bundle which includes an extra AAA game for $50 less than a PlayStation 4.
Apparently, consumers don't really see large differences between both consoles, so price is playing an influential role in purchase decisions.
