Activision has released an extended set of recommended specifications for the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and it's clear that if you want to play this game at 4K with all the settings turner up to their maximum, you'll need a powerful GPU. For its Competitive/Ultra 4K settings, Activision recommends an RTX 3080 or RX 6800 XT, alongside 16GB of RAM, and a recent generation, flagship processor.
Call of Duty games are often demanding, but with their mainstream appeal, they're never too demanding. Modern Warfare 2 is another good example of that, with modest CPUs, memory, and graphic demands at the low end. If you're just looking to play at the minimum, you'll only need an Intel Core i3-6100, or AMD Ryzen 3 1200, 4GB of RAM, and an RX 470 or GTX 960. At recommended specs, you'll need a Core i5-6600K, or Ryzen 5 1400, 6GB of RAM, and a GTX 1060 or RX 580.
At the top end with 4K graphics, and all the settings turned up, Activision recommends a much-more demanding Intel Core i9-9900K or Ryzen 9 3900X, 16GB of RAM, and an RTX 3080 or RX 6800 XT.
The game is only a 72GB install, but the Hi-Rez assets are another 64GB, so make sure you have plenty of space for this one.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launches on October 27.
