If you were one of the many excited for the upcoming Gran Turismo Sport title, you may have to wait a little longer - even if you pre-ordered it. Following on from the delay of the game's release that was announced a couple of weeks ago, it's now being reported that Sony is refunding some gamers who have pre-ordered the game.
It's not clear how widespread this refunding is, as Sony hasn't made any sort of announcement of it. However it would suggest that the delay is quite significant.
The notice sent out to those who have received the refund reads as follows:
"On 30th August 2016 we regrettably announced that the release of Gran Turismo Sport has been delayed until 2017. We do not have a new release date at this time. We have, therefore, decided to cancel your pre-order and refund your pre-order payment."
"Once we have a new release date for Gran Turismo Sport we will offer a revised pre-order for it on the PlayStation Store at the earliest opportunity. Thank you for your custom and please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused."
Gran Turismo games have always taken a long time to put together, with their extreme attention to detail on the many, many cars that the games employ. However this is a significant push back even by its standards.
Here's hoping we're not waiting too long for the next-great car sim.
