Crowd funding has really changed the face of games development in recent years. Thanks to the money of hard working gamers, developers have been able to make pipe dream projects that no publisher would back. We've seen resurgences of classics, creations of new genres and reputations rocked by poorly handled rewards.
However despite all of the success stories, all of the Yooka Laylees and Double Fine Adventures of the world, , a gothic, exploration focused platformer, has become the most funded game on Kickstarter ever.
While unarguably Star Citizen is the most crowd funded game by a long shot, having raised $84 million to date, it only pulled in $2.1 million from its original campaign run back in November 2012. Bloodstained on the other hand has raised $4.6 million over the past month and it still has just less than a day to go, so it could well break the $5 million barrier before then.
Others games it beat out include Torment, Tides of Numeria, Project Eternity, Mighty No. 9 and Elite Dangerous, among many hundreds of others.
Have any of you kicked in a few dollars to Bloodstained?
