Don't Starve has sold many, many copies in its several years of life, having slowly transitioned it's way to just about every platform under the sun. However there was one more that needed it's own version of the game and that's the iPad. Fortunately then, this week that is remedied, with the original game and its expansion Reign of Giants both available from the get go, so don't expect an easy ride.
While the base game of Don't Starve made things difficult, adding in extra giants, biomes, seasons and enemies to combat made Reign of Giants a whole lot harder, but a lot more fun too.
However as comprehensive as this new version will be, since the developer Klei hasn't mentioned whether the multiplayer port of the game, Don't Starve Together will be included, we wouldn't expect so. It's not clear if that is something that will be added down the road, but since it's not even finished development on PC just yet, if it does show up anywhere else it will be a while.
This iteration of the giant infested, survival experience has had its control scheme optimised for the touch interface, so should be reasonably intuitive and will run on iPad 3s, iPad Mini 2s and other miscellaneous hardware running iOS 8 or later.
