With Klei Entertainment working on a variety of games since the original release of Don't Starve - including its multiplayer variation, Don't Starve Together - it's rather exciting to hear that there's new content on the horizon for those who have battled through the Burtonesque survival simulator.
Made in conjunction with Capybara Games, the company behind Super Time Force, Don't Starve: Shipwrecked will bring water based travel to the game, letting players construct boats to traverse the murky depths of the world. It will also introduce new biomes (presumably sea and island based) as well as new characters, items, enemies and giants, making for an ever increasingly difficult world to continue living and breathing in.
To help make sure it's ready for the eventual release and to let early adopters sink their teeth into the new content, Klei will be releasing the update in Early Access on December 1 with regular updates and tweaks coming after that as it irons out bugs and issues.
"We’d be fools to not involve you again when it comes to the development of Shipwrecked," Klei said in a statement.
It also confirmed that only Steam users would be able to try the update out on the Early Access date and migration between worlds would not work initially.
