Although it's not quite the Ryzen 3000 desktop chips with their Zen 2 cores, AMD has introduced the very first Ryzen CPUs into the market in the form of its laptop variants. The Ryzen 3350H is technically the first CPU in that range, despite being based on the last-generation Zen+ architecture. It can be found in ASUS' new TUF Gaming laptops.
The laptops come in two models, the FX705 and the FX505. Each features the mid-range Ryzen 5 3550H CPU with four cores, and eight threads thanks to simultaneous multithreading. Its clock speeds are 2.1 GHz at base and 3.7GHz when turbo boosted. It also has an onboard Vega 8 iGPU which is clocked at 1,200 MHz. The chip is quite performance orientated, requiring as much as 35w of power, so these will certainly be gaming notebooks for early adopters.
However, don't think you'll be limited to the on-die graphics chip if you do decide to pick up one of ASUS new notebooks. The FX 705 and FX 505 both come equipped with AMD Radeon 560X cards chip too, so there is a little extra grunt if required for higher-fidelity gaming and higher frame rates. Both systems also sport up to 32GB of DDR4, and options for up to a terabyte of storage space in SSHD, HDD, or SSD form, depending on your budget, as per WCCFTech.
The only real difference between the two is their displays. The FX 705 comes equipped with a 17.3 IPS display, while the FX 505 is fitted with a 15.6-inch version. Each comes in 60Hz or 120Hz variants, the latter of which also supports AMD Freesync technology to avoid screen tearing.
They will be priced at $900 and $800 respectively.
