The wait for GTA VI feels like forever, but there’s a bit of light around the corner this New Year’s. GTA fans awoke to some excellent news for 2025 with the arrival of the Liberty City Preservation Project mod for GTA V.

Some doubted this was even real when videos of it first started circulating, but it’s genuine - and it looks amazing. You can now explore the iconic Liberty City from GTA IV in GTA V. The map has been ported in its entirety into GTA V — that means alongside vehicles specific to GTA IV, the team has included extras like the option to send cars from one map to another. There’s even a fully functional public transport system and the ability to fly to and from the new map direct from Los Santos, the city where GTA V is set.

Anyone new to modding will be pleased to hear it couldn’t be easier to install the Liberty City Preservation Project mod, as it comes bundled with its own installer. You can check out a trailer for the mod created by the modding team, which shows it off in all its glory, or dive into some of the gameplay videos on YouTube, if you’re not convinced. You can download the mod free from the World Travel Discord server.

Ok, so it might not be GTA VI, but it will certainly keep fans busy until the anticipated sequel to the fifth installment in the series arrives. When that will be exactly, we still don’t know, but it’s apparently still on track for a fall 2025 launch, though we've only seen one trailer from Rockstar so far. In the runup to the launch, we’re sure leaks and rumors will abound — just remember to take them all with a pinch of salt.
