The latest issue of Japanese videogame magazine, Famitsu, unveiled new details about Resident Evil 5 and its hero.
In Resident Evil 5, Chris Redfield will make his return as the game's hero. Chris was the protagonist of the original Resident Evil game. Chris then returned in Resident Evil: Code Veronica, where he attempted to rescue his younger sister, Claire, from a secret Umbrella Corporation facility in Antarctica. While there, he confronted Alexia Ashford and Wesker, the creators of the T-Veronica Virus and embarked on a mission to destroy the Umbrella Corporation.
Along with his hand pistol, Chris will also sport a hunting knife and a sniper rifle. He might also carry a larger gun on his back.
No info has been revealed about the enemies except that they are not zombies nor ganados this time. Resident Evil 5 will take place in Africa, but the enemies will represent different ethnics, clearly to avoid racism allegations.
Famitsu also mentioned two female characters. The first is a "blond woman in a red dress" whose face they couldn't see and who appears to will escape together with Chris. The other is "a beautiful woman with dark skin" who carries as big of an arsenal as Chris does and appears to be another playable character or an ally.
Resident Evil 5 is scheduled for release on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 sometime in 2009.
