While Super Mario Run remains the lowest scoring Nintendo game ever with 2.5 stars only on the App Store, the game did shatter download records by reaching 40 million downloads in 4 days. It is still unclear how much of those downloads translated to sales, but it certainly is good enough for Nintendo to release more mobile games.
In an interview with Japanese Kyoto NP, Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima, confirmed that the company intends to follow Super Mario Run with "2 to 3" mobile games each year for the foreseeable future.
This falls in line with previous reports which stated that Nintendo had several mobile games in the pipeline, including games based on Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem.
Kimishima didn't confirm whether upcoming Nintendo mobile games will be released simultaneously on iPhone and Android, or will follow Super Mario Run's suit and launch first on Apple's platform.
