Blizzard's Overwatch will be released for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on May 24th, 2016.
Overwatch is Blizzard's first original franchise since 1998. It is a multiplayer first-person shooter that emphasizes cooperative gameplay using a cast of various "heroes", each with their own abilities and roles within a team. The game features squad-based combat with two opposing teams of six players each.
We are excited to see if Blizzard will be able to deliver a first person shooter experience as polished as their real time strategy and role playing games'. Luckily, Blizzard is giving gamers a chance to participate in an open beta from May 5th to May 9th with no purchase required; and if you can't wait, you can get a guaranteed two days early access pass if you preorder the game before April 29th.
Overwatch is available in 3 SKUs. Available on PC only, the basic Overwatch package costs $40, giving you access to the game's roster of 21 heroes and maps. The Origins Edition costs $60 and comes with 5 extra skins and a set of in-game goodies such as a baby Winston pet and an Overwatch card pack. Finally, the Collector's Edition comes with a visual sourcebook, soundtrack and a 12.8" soldier statue for $130.
