Sony has finally added external hard disk support to PlayStation 4.
The company confirmed in a blog post the next major system software update, version 4.50 (codenamed Sasuke), will allow PlayStation 4 owners to extend their console's storage by up to 8TB using any USB 3.0 external hard disk drive. The extra space can be used to store content and to install downloaded applications.
PS4 Firmware version 4.50 also introduces several frequently-requested features such as customizable wallpapers, simplified notification list and the ability to play 3D Blu-rays on PlayStation VR.
PS4 Firmware version 4.50 is currently available for beta program participants and will roll to all users in the next few weeks.
