After weeks of speculations that Prey 2 has been cancelled, Bethesda has finally denied those rumors and confirmed that the game is still in production.
The company, however, announced that the game's release has been delayed beyond its original 2012 intended time frame.
"The delay is due to the fact that game development has not progressed satisfactorily this past year, and the game does not currently meet our quality standards," Bethesda's global PR director Tracey Thompson revealed.
"We have made a substantial investment in game development to deliver the experience fans want," he added. "We are determined only to release the AAA game that fans rightfully expect, and are unwilling to compromise our quality standards to meet a release schedule."
But it seems that this isn't the whole story. According to an anonymous source who spoke to ShackNews, the game's developer Human Head Studio has caused this delay after going on a strike in an attempt to renegotiate their contract terms.
When asked whether Human Head is still responsible for Prey 2, Bethesda' PR director refused to comment.
