We already know that the Playstation 3 version of Unreal Tournament 3 will not include any mod tools and that fans willing to create PS3 UT3 mods will have to use the tools supplied with the PC version of the game. Epic finally revealed how this setup will work.
Unreal Tournament 3 mod tools will be available with the PC version of the game. Fans can use those tools to create anything from minor weapon and gameplay tweaks to full blown total conversions. After finishing work on a mod, the mod maker would simply click export to PS3 and the development kit will create a single file that you can host, submit it to a fan website, or simply pass along the file to your friends.
Players then download the files onto a PS3 compatible memory stick of their choice and load it into the game. Alternatively, the modifications can be hosted on a dedicated server and when a player logs onto that server, the files automatically download to his PS3 hard drive. Server hosts have the option to host the mod files, or act as a gateway and redirect the download to another website.
