One of the key improvements introduced to the upcoming Guitar Hero Live is its redesigned guitar controller, but don't throw your old Guitar Hero and/or Rock Band guitars yet.
Like Guitar Hero, Rock Band is getting a new release this year. Unlike it though, the new Rock Band plans to support existing controllers, including the one developed by its competitors.
Speaking to Business Insider UK, Rock Band 4 director Daniel Sussman confirmed that the game will support all existing Rock Band peripherals in addition to Guitar Hero guitars.
"We're planning to support everything that we can: That includes all of the old 'Rock Band' controllers, and all the old 'Guitar Hero' controllers," he said.
"Our position is really all about respect for our consumers and for the money that they have spent to get into the game space in the first place. They spend a fortune on games: on consoles, on hardware, and we're sensitive to that," he added. "We play those games too. We buy all the same stuff. A world where you need to have three different guitars and two drum sets and all this stuff is...we don't want to support that world."
Rock Band 4 team intends to support the new Guitar Hero Live guitar, but they "won't know for sure until [they] get one in the office" after the game is released.
