News in brief

  • Kingdom Come: Deliverance II has sold almost two million copies.
  • It's also doing well on Steam with over 250,000 peak concurrent players.
  • Embracer has a "robust roadmap" for the next 12 months which will include new content and updates.

Embracer is celebrating the news that Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is close to the two million copies sold mark. The company, which owns developer Warhorse Studios through its subsidiary, Plaion, said the game had "significantly outperformed [our] expectations so far."

The story-driven action RPG launched on February 4 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X and S. Just 24 hours after launch, it had sold one million copies — now that figure has almost doubled less than ten days after release.

Earlier in the week, we reported that Kingdom Come: Deliverance II was the second-highest scoring PC game of the year so far. It's also climbing the Steam ranks, with over 250,000 peak concurrent players. That's over double the 96,069 peak concurrent playercount of Kingdom Come: Deliverance, which landed in 2018.

Embracer said the game had been "initially successful, not only in terms of player and critic reception, but also in terms of performance." CEO Lars Wingefors also spoke of the "robust roadmap" planned for the next 12 months, which will include updates alongside plenty of new content to keep players engaged.

Reviews for the action RPG are mostly positive, and it currently has a 90% "Very Positive" Steam score.

It's a win for Embracer following a tough few years which saw it sell off several studios including Gearbox and Saber Interactive. The next game from the company will be Killing Floor 3, landing later this quarter.
