Rocket League has been a major win for Psyonix this year - especially considering the relative lack of success it had with its prequel, the Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars. Part of that success came from its acceptance by PC gamers, but a larger percentage of its player base came from its proliferation on the PlayStation - especially because it was free.
With that in mind, it's going to be very interesting to see what an impact making Rocket League available on the Xbox One will be. There's been no official announcement of this, but of course we know already.
The reason we know is that the game has shown up on the . It seems likely that this is an early reveal that Psyonix would have preferred to keep under wraps for now, but it's no surprise, as the developer has said previously that it would bring the game to other platforms.
All that's left now is to bring it to the Wii U, which while having a smaller install base than the other two major consoles, still sits at over 10 million units. That's still a sizeable audience it could capture. The console would certainly have no problem running the game.
Presumably too, Psyonix will be making the new version(s) of the game cross platform. So expect an influx of new players soon to dominate if you have even a few hours under your belt.
