Although many of us remember the very first Pokémon games from the '90s and have fond memories of that original 151 Pokémon, things have moved on a lot since then. There have been hundreds of additions in many different games and iterations of the series, and that's meant some weird and wonderful new Pokémon too.
There's never been a Fire/Water combination though, until now. It's known as Volcanion, and it promises to be a real thorn in the side of new and old trainers alike.
"Unlike any other Pokémon, Volcanion is both Fire- and Water- type," reads the official announcement. "This Pokémon uses fire and water to create steam within its body, expelling explosive shock waves and scalding steam from the arms on its back. Volcanion’s power is said to be so great it can destroy an entire mountain, gouging out the earth and changing the shape of the land!"
The unknown factor here is where it's going to show up. It's not clear if it will be some new DLC package, part of a new game development or freely distributed to people at special shows or events.
Game Freak and Nintendo are both keeping quiet about it for now, so stay tuned to find out more as we hear it.
