As if there weren't enough games exploring the Warhammer 40,000 universe at the moment, Games Workshop has announced a partnership with Bandai Namco to release a competitive shooter set in that same galaxy. It will put the Orks, Imperium, Chaos and (we're going to guess since they weren't mentioned) Eldar against one another in violent matches to the death in PvP and PvE gameplay.
This will be a "massive online shooter," so will perhaps operate in a similar manner to Destiny, with squad based combat with instances that bridges the gap between a competitive multiplayer shooter and an MMO.
Players will choose one of 20 sub-factions within each race, letting them customise their hero and help them progress through the ranks to become one of their army's most violent specimens, decimating enemies at every turn.
"It’s an honor to work on a Warhammer 40,000 game that’s already getting great community feedback on our pre-alpha. We can’t wait to share what we’ve built with a wider audience," said Stephen Mulrooney, SVP at Behaviour Interactive.
This is a big, ambitious game though and although Behaviour has a lot of experience on previous titles, it has done a lot of porting to old-gen systems and movie-tie in games for the likes of Brave and Home. Apparently the game is far along in development though and can be expected to be available and playable sometime in the Summer of 2016.
