There are a lot of Warhammer games being made at the moment, from 40K turn based strategies and chess, to epic-scale Fantasy wargames and everything in between. One of those ones sitting somewhere in there is Warhammer End Times: Virmintide, a four player cooperative slasher/shooter that plays like a blend of Left 4 Dead and Borderlands but set in the Warhammer universe.

There's a real melee combat focus in the game, though judging from the new short trailer everyone gets some form of ranged weapon along with their trusty hammer or sword.

The enemies are a little different from the usual orcs this time around though, as Skaven, the other multitudinous and humorous race in the Warhammer universe have taken over an Empire township and it's up to four intrepid heroes to brain them all over the cobbled streets.

The game looks set to have a minimalist interface, with just a handful of items per player and a simple health bar to break up the action on screen. While the graphics are unlikely to blow anyone away, this is one of the better looking Warhammer games released as of late and has a nice atmosphere to it - though I wonder if it will all be dark and foreboding or whether we'll get some day-time action.

Virmintide is currently in development for PC, Xbox One and PS4 with no announced release date as of yet.
