GameStop president Tony Bartel has expressed his company's firm belief that tablets are the "next explosion" to hit the videogames market and that GameStop is committed to be a key player in that sector.
"If we can work with our partners and the OEMs and they come up with a great tablet that is enabled with a great gaming experience and coupled with a bluetooth controller, then there's no need to go out and develop our own," he said. "But if we can't find one that's great for gaming, then we will create our own."
GameStop's stock has risen by nearly 6% yesterday, following its acquisition of Spawn and Impulse digital distribution platforms.
