After settling the famous class action lawsuit regarding the notorious Hot Coffee modification for GTA: San Andreas, a website has been launched, explaining all possible compensation plans.
Any person who bought a copy of GTA: San Andreas before July 20, 2005 may choose one of the following options:
(a) Exclude yourself from this settlement and retain the right to be part of any other lawsuit concerning the same issue.
(b) Object and write to the court explaining why you think this settlement is unfair.
(c) Submit a claim form to benefit the CD exchange program, cash benefits or both.
Cash benefits will vary to the proof of purchase the plaintiff can furnish. Those who kept their detailed store receipt may receive a cash payment of $35 while those who have nothing but the game disc will only have it replaced.
In order to receive any benefits - a replacement disc and/or cash - you must file a Claim Form and swear under penalty of perjury that you: (a) Bought a Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas First Edition Disc before July 20, 2005; (b) Were offended and upset by the ability of consumers to use third party software and/or hardware to modify and alter the game to display the Hot Coffee content; (c) Would not have bought the game had you known that consumers could modify and alter the game content; and (d) Upon learning the game could be modified and altered, would have returned it to the place of purchase for a refund if you thought this was possible.
