Almost for the first time in Kojima Studio's history, the studio is working on two Metal Gear Solid titles simultaneously. This has led to an unusual situation.
With one team working on the next Metal Gear flagship title, Metal Gear Solid: Rising, and the other working on the PSP exclusive metal Gear Solid title, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, the teams have unequal access to the company's resources.
"If you could imagine the PSP team looking at the Rising team, they have all the money and specs," Hideo Kojima explained. "That's the one reason why they are not good friends."
"It's interesting for me to see the team members act in this way," he admitted. "This was never before because it was always just one small team. Now we are much bigger."
Kojima noted that the PSP team is working "day and night" to make Peace Walker "even better than Metal Gear Solid 4" while dealing with technological restrictions and other hurdles.
Right now, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker development team are "creating a trailer for PSP like crazy. We give our best and think we did great, it looks great. But when we look at the Rising team we say, should we really keep creating PSP? Because the Rising graphics are so high quality."
