Star Wars Outlaws is going to be removing the forced stealth sections after a lot of player feedback made it clear gamers weren't fans. This will come at a later date, along with some other quality of life improvements that continue to improve the Star Wars game.
News in brief
- Forced stealth sections are being removed in favor of player choice
- So you can blast your way through most missions
- Syndicate areas will also get choice-focused updates
Forced stealth sections really only come second to underwater levels when it comes to gamer hate, so it made sense the parts of Star Wars Outlaws that required you to keep your head down and stay hidden would become controversial at the very least. They also committed the worst sin of stealth sections too, as the mission would fail if you were spotted.
Thankfully, those failures will soon be a thing of the past, as the Star Wars Outlaws team have announced they're looking to slightly change the way those missions work. In short, rather than failing the mission when you're spotted, you can now just start shooting and clear the mission the American Way.
These changes will also impact syndicate districts within the game too, which previously required players to sneak into them if they weren't on good terms with the gang in question. Now, you'll be able to just blast your way in. Han Solo would be proud.
The amount to which Star Wars Outlaws was a stealth game took a lot of people by surprise, since a lot of pre-release content centered around, well, blasters and blowing stuff up. So when the game released, and it was suddenly revealed to be a stealth-focused game, players were understandably a little confused.
These definitely seem to be good changes though, and reflect the dedication the Star Wars Outlaws team have towards polishing the game up and fixing the issues a number of players and critics had with the original game. Cutting down on stealth sections is a good start. So, in the immortal words of Frank Reynolds: "So anyway, I started blastin'."
